Shopkeepers criticize demolition of gutted PDD structure

Srinagar, Sept 23: The Government Central Market Shopkeepers Association, Exhibition Ground here have criticized the demolition of shops, which were in the ground floor of the PDD building gutted on September 11.
 In statement the Association said: “The Association has shown their utmost disappointment the manner the gutted structure of Chief Engineer’s office, was demolished without any prior information to shopkeepers which has resulted in damages to their shops.”
 “If the shopkeepers have would have been informed well in advance for removing the furniture/fixture, the damages to the same would have been avoided,” it added.
 The association said the matter has taken up with the DDC Srinagar Me’raj Ahmed Kakroo “who assured of action in this regard.”
 They appealed the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to get the marketplace reconstructed at an earliest.
