Uncovered manholes irk Ellahi Bagh residents

GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar, Sept 2: The residents of Government Housing Colony Ellahibagh said they face “immense inconvenience” due to uncovered manholes, which as per them caused injury to some of them.
The locals said after construction of drain, the manholes have been kept open.
“Some time back a person fell into the open manhole and got injured. He sufferedhead injury and had to be hospitalised,” said a local Parvez Shamim.
The residents said the open manholes are on the main lane connecting to the Ellahi Masjid, which is the biggest Masjid in the locality.
“It has put the entire population to misery as people are not even able to go for prayers particularly in evening and on mornings to the Masjid,” the locals said.
“The risk,” the residents said “is more so when they venture during rainfall.”
“The manholes are filled with water and slippery conditions add to the woes. The children are also vulnerable to injuries if God forbid anybody falls in the drain,” the locals said.
The locals appealed the District Development Commisioner, Srinagar to look into the matter.
