‘Join our Movement’

Geelani To Pro-India Politicians

SAMAAN LATEEF

Srinagar, Sept 3: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani Friday urged the pro-India politicians and activists to stop supporting genocide of Kashmiris and join the ongoing ‘Quit Kashmir Movement.’
Addressing people at Friday congregational prayers at Pathar Masjid in old city here, Geelani said, “The NC, Congress, PDP and Communist party leaders and their followers should stop being Indian informers for killing the youth who are participating in the ongoing movement.”
“The pro-India parties’ followers should stop supporting oppressors of Kashmiri people and should not be happy with the bloodshed in the Valley,” he said. Geelani said the pro-India Kashmiri politicians were answerable to God for the bloodshed of innocent youth of Kashmir. “They are tight lipped over the spate of killings by Indian forces and in return are seeking employment and food from India,” he said. They have sold their religion, culture and conscience to Indian power for petty issues of employment.
Without naming anyone, he said the pro-India party followers are doing Dastarbandi of their leaders in holy shrines. “These leaders don’t know whether their wives are Muslims or not,” he said.
He said Jumat-ul-vida is observed as solidarity with the pre and post 1947 Kashmiri martyrs and pledged that their mission would be taken to the logical conclusion. “Youth are being killed while playing carom and going to tuitions by forces using new lethal weapons including pellet guns,” he said.
Complementing people for showing courage and resilience in the ongoing movement, he said, “Kashmiri people have been rendering unflinching sacrifices for the ongoing agitation. Hurriyat Conference takes pledge that these sacrifices will not go waste. These sacrifices will take the freedom movement to its logical conclusion.”
Geelani said the ongoing movement has reached an important phase and had shaken the Indian Parliament. “People must continue to extend support to the cause and continue the struggle till freedom is achieved from India,” he said. Geelani also complemented people for following the Hurriyat program with unity and urged for remaining steadfast on their stand. “We have to protect this unity. It will take us to our goal of freedom,” he said.
Geelani said the movement had transferred into the hands of the young generation. “Youth have to accept it and continue the struggle till movement reaches its logical conclusion,” he said.
Expressing strong resentment over National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah’s recent statement in Parliament that Kashmiris wanted to live with India, Geelani again dared him to walk for only five minutes in Lal Chowk.
“If he speaks truth and believes in what he said, he should come to Lal Chowk without Indian security and we will see how our youth will garland him,” he said.
He said the future of Kashmir would be decided within the ambit of Islamic principles.
He made an appeal to people to resort to peaceful protests and refrain from arson and violence. “This is a sacred movement and I appeal the youth to show humility while protesting. The demonstrations should be peaceful. Wherever stopped by police, people should sit down, and bare their chest and dare policemen to shoot us,” said Geelani urging for peaceful protests.
“We need to ponder. At least 65 innocent people have been martyred since June 11 by forces. No paramilitary man has been killed. So we need to think who is getting harmed,” Geelani explained.
Geelani appealed people to continue their struggle for the complete demilitarization, revocation of draconian laws, release of political prisoners till India accepts Kashmir as disputed issue and stops killings.
He said no one would be allowed to divide the state of J&K on regional lines. “Ladakh, Jammu, Azad Kashmir are all parts of this state and no one will be allowed to divide J&K on regional lines,” he said. Urging people to promote communal and sectarian harmony, he said, “We should maintain brotherhood with all communities.”
He appealed people to extend monetary support to the flood-hit people of Pakistan. “In few days we will announce the bank account number in which people will be requested to deposit money for the flood-hit victims of Pakistan,” he said. Geelani later led a massive protest procession to Kak Sarai chowk.
