Chib reviews drug availability in hospitals
Srinagar, Sept 3: The Minister for Medical Education, R S Chib today reviewed the availability of drugs, transport for carrying the staff and patients, details of in-patients and out- patients for the last two months in the associated hospitals of Government Medical College during a meeting here.
The officers apprised the minister about the activities being carried out by them in the hospitals and also discussed the budgetary requirement for the coming days.
Chib asked them to leave no stone unturned in providing best possible medicare, free diet, medicines and above all free to and fro transport facilities to the patients and their attendants. He asked them to monitor and supervise the functioning of their hospitals round the clock, adding it was endeavour of the government to extend best possible medicare in spite of all odds to the patients.
Chib expressed satisfaction over the efforts put in by doctors and paramedics in providing the medicare during prevailing circumstances and also for rendering their duties regularly.
Principal Government Medical College, Dr Shahida Mir told the meeting that there had neither been any decline in the number of patients admitted nor any decline in the number of patients in OPDs of all the associated hospitals.
She said the students of first year MBBS were attending their classes regularly since August 18 and University examinations for second and final year MBBS were conducted smoothly.
Deliberating on the budgetary requirement for the remaining months of the current financial year, Chib assured the Medical Superintendents that the required budgetary support would be provided to them for purchase of medicines, however the MSs asserted that medicines over two months were available with the administration of associated hospitals.
Secretary, State Red Cross Society assured the Minister that his organisation would continue to provide Ambulatory support and supply of required medicines to the GMC Hospitals.
Chib directed the Director Chittranjan Hospital to find out ways and means for holding medical camps in the rural areas for providing medicare to the patients living in remote and far-flung areas.
