Visits families of victims
Srinagar, Sep 5: Chairman of Hurriyat (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Sunday led a massive protest demonstration at Batamaloo against the unabated killings of teenagers and youth by paramilitary CRPF and police in the past three months.
Expressing sympathy with the families of those killed at Batamaloo, Mirwaiz said, “New Delhi has been trying to suppress our aspirations and sentiments.
Addressing a gathering at Danderkhah in Batamaloo, he said that the conditions which the conglomerate has set for improving the situation in Valley are now being adopted by other pro-freedom leaders.
“It is time for the pro-freedom leadership to unite and take this movement to its logical conclusion,” Mirwaiz said as people reciprocated with pro-freedom slogans.
Later, Mirwaiz visited the houses of Farooq Ahmad, Sameer Ahmad Rah, Muhammad Yousuf Khan, Fancy Jan and Muhammad Yaqoob who were killed by CRPF and police firing.
On the occasion, Mirwaiz told the bereaved families that he could not visit them earlier as he was continuously placed under house arrest. Mirwaiz offered prayers at Astan-Aalia Batmaloo.
Mirwaiz also visited SMHS hospital and met patients, including cousin of chairman JKLF Muhammad Yasin Malik who was among the injured in the troopers and police firing.
