Opening fire
This refers to the news “Troops open fire in Varmul, 6 injured” (GK, Sep 4). It is really unfortunate that troops continue to fire on peaceful protesters even after 65 civilian killings in Kashmir. The Prime Minister’s assertion that “non lethal crowd control measures are required in the Valley” seems to have fallen flat. Civilians continue to be killed or injured with each passing day. There is no let up in violence. How long will this bloodshed continue?
