POLICE ASKED TO VERIFY
GK NEWS NETWORK
Jammu, Sept 5: Jammu and Kashmir police has asked all the Station House Officers (SHOs) to verify the credentials of the pre-paid customers under their jurisdiction.
Well informed sources told Greater Kashmir that the state police department has issued directions to all SHOs to verify at least 25 SIM cards, every month, to ascertain the credentials of the customers.
The Additional Director General of Police has recently issued circular to all the SSPs to ensure that the police stations in their respective areas adhere to the directions.
Though sources said that the directions were too difficult to comply with, police in some areas has already started the exercise.
“There is practical difficulty coming in our way”, a police officer said adding that the job was basically to be performed by the mobile companied and police was only to assist in verification. “However, now it seems that the telecom companies have given up the job and we have to perform it in addition to our own duties”.
