Palhalan, Wussan killings evoke condemnation
Srinagar, Sept 7: The police firing at Palhalan and Wussan in Pattan area of north Kashmir on Monday, killing four civilians and injuring 12 others has been condemned by various political and religious organizations.
Condemning the killings, the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front chairman, Muhammad Yaseen Malik said the rulers and their armed forces would have to account for the ‘genocide’ in Kashmir. “At the time when Prime Minister was giving a statement on Kashmir, the armed forces were soiling their hands with the innocent blood,” he said, terming the massacre as the worst kind of ‘state terrorism’.
Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu Kashmir Amir, Sheikh Muhammad Hassan while condemning the killings, said such incidents taking place frequently in the Valley prove it beyond any doubt that the armed forces had been given a free hand to kill civilians.
He said the ongoing peaceful mass movement would continue till the complete realization of the objective. He paid tributes to the martyred and expressed solidarity with their families.
The Itihad-ul-Muslimeen chief patron, Moulana Muhammad Abbas Ansari, termed the incident as an inhuman act.
Condemning the killings, the Democratic Political Movement acting chairman, Khawaja Firdous alleged that the armed forces were carrying out genocide at the behest of the government of India.
The J&K People’s Movement has condemned the killings, terming it ‘cold blood murder of innocents’ by the police.
“It was unfortunate on the part of the government of India to continue almost three months long bloodbath without providing a breathing space to the Kashmiris. But the policy of oppression and suppression is not going to help India prolong its control of J&K,” said party spokesman.
J&K Salvation Movement acting chairman, Altaf Ahmad Bhat termed the incident as worst kind of ‘state terrorism.’ He urged the international community and rights groups to take strong note of the current situation in valley.
Concerned over the killings, the Executive Director Kashmir Centre, London, Nazir Ahmad Shawl, has condemned the continued state violence in Kashmir. He saluted the steadfastness and unwavering commitment of people for the ongoing movement. He appealed to the international human organisations to raise their voice for bringing an end to iron fist policy of the GOI in J&K.
