AUTONOMY TO JK BJP stages protests in Jammu
GK NEWS NETWORK
Jammu, Sept 8: Opposing the proposed move by the UPA government to grant autonomy to cool down tempers in valley, Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday staged demonstrations in 41 constituencies across Jammu to muster public support against the decision.
BJP activists led by party state president, Shamsher Singh Manhas along with party MLA, Jugal Kishore Sharma staged a demonstration in Nagrota.
Raising slogans against the National Conference led government, the protestors warned the Centre not to give in to the separatists’ “pressurizing” tactics.
Addressing the protestors, Manhas alleged that except a handful of NC leaders, including its president Dr Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, “no one from the masses in Jammu, Kashmir or Ladakh has uttered even a single word in favour of Autonomy during all these years.”
“The NC-Congress has failed to come up to the expectations of the people, besides failing to maintain law and order in the state. CM is trying to divert the attention of the people from the real problems confronting the state,” he alleged.
