Chib for reconstruction of sports infrastructure in JK
New Delhi, Sept 8: The Minister for Youth Services and Sports, R S Chib today sought liberal financial assistance from Centre for reconstruction of damaged sports infrastructure in the state.
Addressing sports ministers’ conference here, Chib highlighted the need for augmenting sports infrastructure in J&K with enhanced financial outlays from the Centre under various schemes.
Chib said the State government had already provided Rs 21.40 crore for creation of sports facilities in the uncovered areas during last financial year.
He said the State had covered 14 blocks comprising 413 village Panchayats under Panchayat Yuva Kreda and Khel Abhiyan, adding a proposal for bringing 28 more blocks under its ambit had been submitted to GoI.
He said 8000 volunteers would be engaged on honorarium basis.
Chib praised the proposed the new scheme under which sports infrastructure in urban areas was to be created.
