Cross LoC trade pioneering CBM: Zardari
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
Islamabad, Apr 9: Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari today described the cross-LoC trade between the two sides of Kashmir as a "pioneering" confidence-building measure.
Zardari made the remarks during a meeting with a delegation led by Qurban Hussain, a member of Britain''s House of Lords.
Members of the ruling PPP''s Kashmir Committee also attended the meeting, an official statement said.
Zardari said the cross-Line of Control trade was a "pioneering confidence-building measure in Kashmir".
The cross-LoC trade between the divided parts of Kashmir, which is held every Tuesday and Wednesday, has been growing in volume and value and so far goods worth nearly Rs 800 crore have been exchanged since it was started on October 21, 2008.
During the meeting, Zardari renewed Pakistan''s commitment to the Kashmiri people in their "just struggle for the restoration of their fundamental rights".
