Imam Ka'aba,Dr Zakir grieved at Moulana’s killing
Srinagar, Apr 10: The Imam Ka'aba, Sheikh Abdur-Rehman Bin Abdul Aziz and renowned Islamic scholar, Dr Zakir Naik, Sunday, telephonically addressed condolence meeting of assassinated, Jamiat Ahli-Hadees President, Moulana Showkat Ahmad Shah here.
Moulana Showkat had last month met Sheikh Abdur-Rehman in New Delhi when the latter was on a 3-day visit to India.
Paying rich tributes to Moulana Showkat, Imam Ka'aba expressed deep sorrow over his assassination. He also expressed condolences with the bereaved family and people of Kashmir on behalf of King of Saudi Arabia.
Earlier Dr Zakir Naik in his condolence message said that he was saddened to hear the news about Moulana Showkat’s assassination as he had close relations with him. He expressed condolences with the family of Moulana Showkat and Kashmiris on behalf of Muslims of India.
Prominent people who visited Moulana’s Lal Bazar residence on Sunday included Union Health Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad, ANC leader, Muzaffar Shah and others.
Meanwhile, Kashmir Liberation Movement (KLM) has termed Moulana’s killing as barbaric. In a statement from Muzaffarabad, the Chief Commander of KLM Almas Khan appreciated Moulana’s role in the ongoing struggle of Kashmir.
“The people of Kashmir should not remain silent against the killing of their leaders. The perpetrators must be brought to the book. The motive behind the killings of Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq, Abdul Ghani Lone, Abdul Majeed Dar, Dr Gooru, Dr Wani and Moulana Showkat and other innocents was to deprive Kashmiris of their supporters, leaders and intellectuals,” the statement said.
“We urge upon the Hurriyat leaders to remain united in this hour of grief and isolate the anti-movement elements that are hell-bent to create wedge among the people,” the statement added.
