Gool Thatharka sans water, electricity
GK NEWS NETWORK
Ramban, Apr 12: People of Goal Thatharka Ramban are facing innumerable hardships for want of electricity and drinking water.
“We have been approaching the authorities concerned time and again for several years to redress our grievances regarding non-availability of electricity and potable water, but to no avail. Living in 21st century, the people of Thatharka area, five kilometer from Singaldan, are without basic amenities. On elections, the candidates promise us of everything and when they win they are not seen again. In 2004, the Mufti Muhammad Sayeed led government had made announcements that the projects would be undertaken to mitigate the sufferings of people of the area arising from non-availability of electricity and drinking water. The then irrigation minister had promised that the work on Khetan project would be completed and a canal made to provide drinking water to Gool, Thatharka, Dachan, Chuchuwa, Dawah, Kainth and Singaldan areas,” said a delegation of people from Gool.
The delegation said the chief minister, Omar Abdullah, had last year inaugurated a Grid Station at Singaldan and assured that people would be provided uninterrupted power supply. “But this assurance also proved hoax and the area continued to be without power supply,” they said, appealing to the chief minister to take steps for providing drinking water and electricity to the area.
