Rasheed to abstain
Jammu, Apr 12: Announcing that he will abstain from the voting for the six Legislative Council seats, MLA Langate Er Rasheed said the “dismal performance” of the government has compelled him to stay away from process.
“The government has failed in all respects, be it human rights or the governance. People had pinned great hopes on the young chief minister but his dispensation has failed them,” Rasheed said in a statement.
He said the protection of life and property of the people is the basic duty of any government which claims to represent people, “but the National Conference-Congress coalition government has buried itself in self-seeking pursuits whileas issues of public importance have been put at the backburner.”
Referring to Dogra Certificate controversy, MLA Langate said instead of focussing on intra-regional harmony of the state, some people in the government seem to be hell-bent on creating more mistrust among the people of different regions. “If Taj Mohi-ud-Din is true in saying that the decision about Dogra Certificate was taken unilaterally by the Revenue Minister, doesn’t it depict lack of coordination in the government,” he said.
