Real nightmare
This refers to the article “Nightmare for Women” by Eliza Shah (GK 12-04-2011). I completely agree with her views. The harassment of women in local buses is a growing menace which should be dealt very strictly. Men should understand the very fact that times have changed a lot. This society has left a very little scope for women to remain within their households. Women come out of their homes to earn their livelihood, to support their families in whatever way they can and also to harvest the fruit of the hard work, seeds of which they had sown earlier in the form of education. They do not come out of their homes to get harassed by the so-called civilized men. The mere decision of doing a job by a woman does not snatch her basic rights of guarding her dignity and chastity. We belong to such a society where every women desires of being respected and protected by men, be it in the form of a father, a brother or a husband. It is sheer absurdity on part of those who ask women to choose a private vehicle instead of public transport. They probably don’t know that everyone cannot afford a private car and ever woman just cannot afford to stay home and watch her family, old-aged parents and little kids dying of starvation.
