Sout-ul-Haq, TeM, Lashkar rebut police claims
MOULANA SHOWKAT’S KILLING
Srinagar, Apr 17: Dismissing the claims of police that Sout-ul-Haq Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen and Lashker-e-Toiba were involved in the killing of president of Jamiet Ahl-e-Hadith Moulana Showkat Ahmad Shah, the three organizations on Sunday rejected the claims.
The organizations demanded impartial probe into the killing from an independent international tribunal.
In a faxed statement, General Secretary of the United Jehad Council and head of the Tehreek, Jameel-ur-Rehaman, said, “Moulana Showkat was an asset for the movement and his killing is a big loss for the movement.”
He termed the claims of police as ‘misleading’ and ‘baseless’. “This is a propaganda unleashed by the Police. They want to create rift within the ranks of freedom movement. But they can’t succeed in their nefarious designs,” he added.
“Those who have been arrested by the police and claimed that they are associated with Tehreek or UJC is baseless. Tekreek even doesn’t believe in killings of informers,” he added.
The chief of Sout-ul-Haq, Hafiz-ullah Bhat also rejected police claims. “Ours is a religious and social organization and we have no concern with militancy.”
The Sout-ul-Haq chief said that Abdullah Gazali – arrested in Moulana Showkat’s killing – has no concern with the party. “He has been out of our organization since 2007 and has no concern with us,” he added.
Lashkar spokespersons, Dr Abdullah Gaznazvi while rejecting police claims said, “They (police) wants to defame the movement and by making false claims they are trying to mislead the people.”
“By linking our commander Abdullah Uni with the killing police tries to involve Lashkar in it. But we make it clear that Lashkar has no concern with the killing,” he claimed.
He said “LeT has clear stand that Islam doesn’t allow the killing of innocent persons whether Muslim or non-Muslim.”
“Even thinking of such an act against great personality like Showkat Ahmed Shah is against the Islam,” he said.
Dr Gaznavi said “we want to make it clear that Lashkar Commander, Abdullah Uni, has neither any link with the accused, nor helped them. “We are with Kashmiris,” he added.
