Dirty city
Your editorial on Srinagar city was great. It has punctured the state government claim that it was concerned about the welfare of Srinagar. If you move along the Residency Road in the heart of the city, you will find mud and stink everywhere. This is giving a very bad impression to visitors who happen to do shopping on the busy road. The state government is not able to remove dirt from the roads, not to speak of providing proper drainage and other facilities. Recently the Srinagar Municipal Corporation, which has the distinction of making Srinagar city as fourth dirtiest in India, constructed some fountains. I have a question: Are fountains important or brooms? It is shameful that Srinagar has been neglected by the successive governments. The Peoples Democratic Party tops the list and National Conference is no different.
