City Lok Adalat settles 733 cases

Srinagar, Apr 1: As many as 733 cases were settled during a weeklong Mega Lok Adalat held at Saddar Court in the City.
According to the District Legal Services Authority, Srinagar the “Mega Lok Adalat week was observed from March 25 to March 3I under the chairmanship of District Legal Services Authority, Srinagar with active participation of Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Srinagar under the supervision of Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Srinagar BL Bhat (Principal District & Sessions Judge , Srinagar) in which seven benches were constituted.”
“Out of 1767 cases taken up for settlement, 733 cases of MACT, Criminal, Civil, Matrimonial, Labour and pre and post litigation cases of banks were settled with mutual understanding and amicably,” it added.
“Rs 77,25,000 was recovered as compensation in settling the MACT cases while, an amount of Rs 58,47,634 were recovered in 26 cases. Meanwhile, a sum of Rs 2, 28,750 has been recovered as fine from defaulters.”
