79% turnout in Phase-III: Govt

Jammu, Apr 21: Seventy nine percent polling was recorded in the third phase of Panchayat elections in 10 blocks, five each in Kashmir and Jammu region, which went to polls on Thursday, official sources said.
Five blocks of Jammu province, including Satwari, Purmandal, Gaghwal, Ramnagar and Dudu Basantgarh and five blocks in Kashmir division including Sogam, Boniyar, Ganderbal, Chadoora and Kulgam went to polls today.
The percentage of polling in Satwari was 80 percent, Purmandal (82 percent), Gaghwal (80 percent), Ramnagar (72 percent) and Dudu Basantgarh (78 percent) in Jammu province while in the Valley, 86.50 percent votes were polled in Kupwara’s Sogam block, 86 percent in Boniyar, 75 percent in Ganderbal, 79 percent in Kulgam and 75 percent in Chadoora blocks that went to the polls. As many as 2526 candidates were in the fray for today’s polling.
