Turmoil polarised JK: Army
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
Poonch, Apr 21: Stressing on the need for a fresh initiative to bring in peace and harmony in Jammu and Kashmir, a top Army Commander Thursday said the turmoil has heightened regional and religious polarisation in the state.
“The recent turmoil in Jammu and Kashmir has increased regional and religious polarisation in the state,” General Officer Commanding (GOC), Ace of Space Division Major General Om Prakash said at a seminar on Peace here.
“Petty” politics have stirred the existing fault lines, feeding on the cultural, social and religious multiplicity of the people of the state and their “prismatic and fragmented political orientations”, he said.
Prakash said that in this state of turmoil and instability, there is an urgent need for a healing touch, for a fresh initiative to bring in peace and harmony in the “fractured” society.
