'Govt maligning pro-freedom leadership'

Srinagar, Apr 22: Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (R) chairman, Farooq Ahmad Dar, alias Bitta Karatey and senior vice-chairman, Javid Ahmad Mir, on Friday alleged that instead of resolving Kashmir issue, the government was using every weapon to create wedge in the unity of pro-freedom leaders.
“On the one hand, the State Government is shedding crocodile tears in the name of peace before the oppressed Kashmiris, on the other, it is issuing Dogra certificates to disturb the peaceful atmosphere. It is all being done to malign the freedom movement and pro-freedom leadership to earn New Delhi’s goodwill,” they said.
He alleged that the Government was not allowing the pro-freedom leaders to attend international conferences for past 24 years.
“The government, at the best of New Delhi, was creating hurdles in the participation of pro-freedom leadership in international conferences,” said the Front leaders in a statement, adding, “We were invited by the European Union to participate in an international conference, but the government is not issuing passports.”
