At KU seminar experts throw light on understanding Iqbal

Srinagar, Apr 22: Experts Friday threw light on importance of understanding Dr Sir Muhammad Iqbal (RA) on the second day of seminar on Understanding Iqbal in JK: Issues, Prospects and Contribution being organized by Kashmir University.
In line with the 73rd death anniversary of Allama, the KU is hosting the 3-day seminar, which is being attended by prominent scholars, poets, academicians, officials and others.
The KU PRO said: “In the seminar Iqbal’s contribution and his attachment to Kashmiri society which is reflected in his poetry was highlighted.”
“He was described as the poet of universal importance taking into account all aspects of human activity social, political, religious, educational and metaphysical,” he added.
In his inaugural speech Director Iqbal institute of Culture and Philosophy, professor Basher Ahmad Nahvi described Iqbal as dynamic and his poetry as "poetry of inspiration".
On the inaugural function, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon said: “Iqbal’s vision is the vision of future, and his message for the youth is most important.”
The presidential address was delivered by professor Abdul haq, an expert on Iqbaliyat.
Registrar Kashmir university, Professor S Fayaz appreciated the efforts of the institute for their work on the great poet.
Meanwhile five books on Iqbal were also released on the occasion. These include Abdullo Hab Azam by Dilruba Basher, Iqbal Te Falsafai Khudi by Irfan Turabi, Hazar Imkan by Dr Farid Parbati, Lale Toor by Sultanul Haq Shahidi and the annual journal Iqbaliyati Shumara by professor Basher Ahmad Nahvi.
Others who attended the seminar included professor Margoob Banhali, professor Zahoor-u-din and poet Zarief Ahmad Zarief.
The KU PRO said: “Nineteen papers will be presented by different poets, scholars and academicians during the seminar".
