Bajaj launches RE GDi autorickshaw

Jammu, Apr 22: Minister for Transport and CA&PD, Qamar Ali Akhoon today unveiled RE GDi Autorikshaw, launched by Bajaj Auto's at an impressive function here.
Designed and developed by the Bajaj Auto’s the modern technology made use of in RE GDi ensures not only a cleaner environment but also delivers low operating cost to the auto rikshaw owners.
Speaking on the occasion, Akhoon appreciated the Bajaj Auto’s for introducing the modern Auto Rikshaw for comfortable travel of the common masses. He said the newly auto rikshaw will prove beneficial for the owners as well passengers because of less oil consumption and less pollution and good mileage.
The Minister stressed upon the autorikshaw operators to use meters while ferrying passengers and charge the fare as per meter reading. He asked them to behave decently with commuters as the State is primarily Tourist State. This, he said sends good message across that helps to attract more and more tourists to the State.
Akhoon said various measures are under the active consideration of the government for streamlining and regulation of traffic in the state. He said several long term and short term measures are being introduced shortly in this regard. These measures, he said include construction of new flyovers, creation of more parking slots, installation of traffic signals and underground metro service, etc.
