Arrest erring cops, CRPF men: Geelani

KASHMIR UNREST 2010

GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar, Apr 24: Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani Sunday demanded the arrest of the Police and paramilitary CRPF men involved in the killing of 118 persons during the last year’s summer unrest in the Valley.
“Those involved in the killing of youth are roaming free and innocents who participated in the peaceful protests have been put behind the bars,” a Hurriyat spokesman quoted Geelani as having said while addressing a gathering at Batamaloo here.
“We have rendered countless sacrifices and the nation needs to show unity and steadfastness this time,” Geelani said. “Mainstream parties are responsible for the sufferings of Kashmiris.
Till we don’t completely boycott National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party and Congress, we will not achieve our goal,” he said.
The veteran leader demanded immediate release of political prisoners, separatist leaders and youth. “The anger against arbitrary arrests is brewing. It will have severe consequences,” Geelani added.
He visited the families of Fida Nabi and Suhail Yasin Dar, killed during 2010 unrest, and expressed sympathies with their families.
