JAH discusses future course of action
‘Majlis Shura to elect new Prez’
WASIM KHALID
Srinagar, Apr 24: The Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadith (JAH) held a Majlis Mushawarat (conference) at its headquarters here on Sunday to discuss the future course of action for filling the post of president in the fifteen million member organization.
JAH has also decided to convene a public conference in Srinagar over the killing of Moulana Showkat Shah, killed in an IED explosion at Maisuma here earlier this month.
The organization has send invitations to religious leader Zakir Naik and representatives of Saudi embassy to deliver lectures.
“We took the decisions regarding the post of JAH president,” General Secretary JAH, A Rehman Bhat told Greater Kashmir. “Finally we decided that 425 member Majlis-e-Shura (grand council) would decide over the person who will head the JAH”.
He said they had put two options before the Shura to decide the president. “Either the current
caretaker president will continue or we will go for new elections. The Shura will decide,” Bhat said.
According to JAH constitution a care taker president can hold the position for maximum 3-months. However, if Shura member agree to increase his term, they have the provision to do so. “The Majlis-e-Shura meeting will be held on May 8,” Bhat said.
JAH has decided to hold a public conference in Srinagar to discuss the killing of Moulana Showkat.
“We would be holding it at Shere-e-Kashmir Park or TRC ground,” Bhat said. “We have sent a letter to District Magistrate to allow it most probably this week. We will garner support from the conference to investigate about the murder and expose the main accused”.
During the meeting of Mushwarat, many members raised concerns that government investigation regarding to expose the culprits who killed Moulana was going on at snail’s pace. They also demanded that government should pass on orders to allow the establishment of Trans world Muslim University.
