Medical-cum vet camp organised at Poshkar

Srinagar, Apr 24: Army’s 35-Rashtriya Rifles Sunday organized a medical cum veterinary camp at Poshkar in Budgam district under Project Sadbhavana.
In a statement, Lt Colonel Karandeep Singh of 35-RR said, “The camp was organized keeping in view the demands of the local population comprising mostly of Poshkar, Khag and nearby remote areas where health care is mostly neglected due to non-availability of adequate medical facilities.”
Karandeep said, “It is through the Army post at Khag, that the local people residing in the nearby area expressed their need for better health care especially for children. Besides the normal medical cover and distribution of free medicines, this unit also organized diabetes and hypertension screening for the elderly and the needy.”
He said, “Drug addiction has been rampant among the youths in the valley. In order to curtail this menace and create awareness, the Army and Civil doctors addressed the youth and gave a lecture on various ill effects of drug addiction and necessary steps that should be taken towards prevention and rehabilitation.”
