Stop granting extension to officials: Tarigami to Govt

Srinagar, Apr 24: The CPI (M) state secretary and MLA Kulgam M Y Tarigami on Sunday urged the government to stop the practice of granting extensions to the government officers, who attain superannuation. 
 “Nobody is indispensable in any institution, department or system. Grant of extension in services to some select officials is detrimental to lakhs of unemployed youth and it is bound to nurture nepotism and corruption wrought with dangerous consequences,” Tarigami said in a statement.   
 He alleged that official graft continues to rule the roost in the entire establishment. He lamented  the “absence of any effective mechanism in place to take on the monster of corruption.” 
 “The State Accountability Commission continues to be defunct and the Vigilance Organization toothless,” he added.
 Tarigami stressed the urgency to uphold sanctity of government institutions. “Politicization of the institutions has to be stopped to allow the functionaries to work in the interest of public undue,” he added.
