APC begins investigation
MOULANA SHOWKAT’S KILLING
UMER MAQBOOL
Srinagar, Apr 25: The All Parties Committee (APC) constituted to probe the killing of Jamiat-Ahal-Hadith president Moulana Showkat Ahmed Shah on Monday said that it had devised a mechanism to conduct the investigations.
“We have set up everything in the motion and the probe has begun. During the meeting every participant showed seriousness and determination to take the job to the logical conclusion,” General Secretary of JAH Abdur Rehman Bhatt told Greater Kashmir.
He however said that he cannot divulge the steps being taken to investigate the matter or responsibilities set up for it. “We will disclose it at an appropriate time,” he said.
The close door meeting at JAH party headquarters was attended by Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, Itehad –ul-Muslimeen patron Moulana Abbas Ansari, Hurriyat(G) representative Altaf Ahmed Shah, Moulana Showkat Ahmed Keng, JAH acting president Ghulam Rasool Malik and its general secretary Abdur Rehman Bhat.
However, three other members, Anjuman Sharien Shiyan leader Aga Syed Hassan, Yosuf-ul-Ummar and representative of Bar Association were not present.
The APIC on last Monday had stated that they would approach both the government and United Jihad Council for probing Shah’s assassination.
Pertinently, Moulana was killed on April 8, in an IED blast in Maisuma here, when he was about to enter a Masjid for Friday prayers.
