Dialogue process
This refers to SAS Geelani’s statement that talks under Indian constitution were not acceptable. The Government of India has to shun rigidity on Kashmir or don’t expect others to shun it. Geelani is right that talks under Indian constitution were not possible because Kashmir is a dispute which involves India, Pakistan and the people of Kashmir. What is the fun of holding talks within Indian constitution? It will not serve any purpose. It is important to engage Pakistan and separatists in the dialogue process. This is possible only when New Delhi accedes to the demands of Hurriyat M and Hurriyat G. GOI should not have any problem in going for troop withdrawal or revocation of AFSPA. It will pave way for a sustained engagement on Kashmir. It is better if all stakeholders in Kashmir dialogue process realise that no solution to Kashmir can be achieved within Indian constitution.
