This way the solution can't be sought

A recent press conference by interlocutors on Kashmir was quite different in many respects. It not only exposed the interlocutors themselves, but also a faction of the Hurriyat Conference. One again, the issue has exposed New Delhi which actually doesn’t want a resolution of Kashmir but discredit the Hurriyat leadership in Kashmir. After the 2008 unrest in Kashmir, there has been a drastic change in the mindset of New Delhi on Kashmir. They have understood that it is difficult to contain public sentiment on the Valley streets and thus it is imperative to break that bond between the Hurriyat and the people. Otherwise why would the interlocutors, who have been given the so-called mandate on K-resolution, spill the beans minutes after meeting the Hurriyat leader. Unfortunately the Hurriyat is not able to understand the tactics or they want to fall in tune with New Delhi. If latter is the case, the Hurriyat must come clean on the issue. And it is not like that, they must say no to the so-called dialogue process once and for all. Kashmir is a big problem which has consumed thousands of lives so far. Unfortunately the discourse is being shifted to “Confidence Building Measures” like development and economics. But it is more than it. It is about the honour and dignity of the people of Kashmir. It is about historical betrayals. It is about oppression and loot of our resources. And it is about that promises we all hold for those young souls who lost their lives for the Kashmir cause. Anyone forgetting that would be doing a great disservice to the nation. Let the Hurriyat leadership take a cue from history and historical instances that New Delhi doesn’t want Kashmir to be resolved, but gradually ‘win’ it by discrediting Hurriyat. And interlocution or other panels visiting Kashmir are the endeavours in the same direction.
