Chib lays foundation of Kabadi pavilion
Jammu, Apr 27: The Minister for Youth Services and Sports, R S Chib laid the foundation for Pavillion of Kabaddi stadium in M A Stadium here on Wednesday.
The double storey pavilion covering 2400 square feet area would be constructed at a cost of Rs. 24 lakh within six months, an official handout said.
The Minister said the government is committed to create sports infrastructure of international standard in the state, adding that various measures are afoot in this direction, statement said.
He said ace players of the state would also be honoured to encourage talented sports persons towards sports.
Chib said Kabaddi game is more popular in rural area where play fields are being developed under Panchayat Yuva Khel Krida Abhiyan (PYAKKA), adding the completion of infrastructure would be give further fillip to the game. He said all the 142 blocks of the State would get play fields within five years and the Panchayats would upkeep these fields in their respective areas, statement further said.
Urging upon the Sports Associations to expand the ambit of their activities to rural and far-off area, Chib said the same constitutes their prime responsibility. He felicitated Dushant Sharma who was elected President, Wrestling Federation of India.
Prominent among others, MLA, Ashok Khajuria, Director, Youth Services and Sports Jaipal Singh, President, J&K Kabaddi Association, Anil Gupta Annu, General Secretary J&K Kabaddi Association, Kuldip Gupta, Joint Secretary, J&K Kabaddi Association Sidharth Sharma, Chief Sports officer M S Baba, Sports officer Rajan Sharma, members of J&K Advisory Committee, besides prominent players were also present on the occasion.
