Govt delaying revocation of Dogra Certificate: Mehbooba
Shopian, Apr 27: President of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday said the ruling alliance of National Conference and Congress was dilly-dallying revocation of Dogra Certificate.
“There is no need for the Dogra Certificate as it is meant to divide people. By rushing to New Delhi or going here and there for orders, government is delaying the revocation which is well within its jurisdiction,” Mehbooba told reporters on the sidelines of workers meet here in south Kashmir.
The PDP chief said that a favourable atmosphere was building up in Kashmir and this issue has created doubts in the minds of people.
She said that Dogra Certificate issue had come up during PDP’s tenure headed by Mufti Muhammad Sayeed too but the party rejected it.
“Muzaffar Hussain Baig had cautioned the government against the move and we rejected any such move then,” she said.
To a question about the recent cross-voting by BJP legislators in favour of National Conference, Mehbooba said, “There must have been some transaction.”
“As you know, NC and BJP have old ties and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was also minister in the NDA regime. It is clear that BJP legislators voted for NC candidate and it would not be for free and there must have been some money exchange in the process,” she said.
She also alleged that there was increase in crimes in Kashmir ever since the new dispensation took over. “After Shopian tragedy, there has been increase in human rights violation and crimes in the Kashmir. If you talk of last summer, 117 persons were killed and nothing is being done against perpetrators,” she added.
