Waterbodies turn dustbin: NLCO
Srinagar, Apr 27: Nigeen Lake Conservation Organization (NLCO) has accused the authorities of being callous towards the conservation of waterbodies by allowing dumping of garbage into them.
The NLCO Chairman Manzoor Ahmed Wangnoo alleged that the Srinagar Municipal Corporation Safai Karamcharies were throwing garbage into Tchuntu Kul and other waterbodies.
“At one point of time, they had started refraining from the practice but now again garbage is beiung frequently thrown into Tchuntu, Dal and Nigeen lakes,” he said.
Wangnoo appealed the SMC Commissioner Sheikh Mushtaq to personally inspect the areas to know the ground reality.
