Altaf visits plantation sites

Jammu: Minister for Forests and Environment, Main Altaf Ahmad today visited the plantation sites developed by the Eco Task Force (ETF) comprising members from the Forest department and Ecological Territorial Army Units, in the peripheries of Jammu and Samba.
The Eco Task force has developed 6800 hectares degraded land by carrying out massive plantation in Mananu, Teri Birpur and Sandhi areas of the districts.
The plantation drive started in 1989 by the task force has resulted in growth of dense green cover over large stretches during last over 20 years.
Addressing ETF personnel and public, Altaf appreciated the work describing it as great contribution towards the preservation of the State’s environment. He said the massive green cover bears testimony to the dedication with which the ETC personnel had worked.
