'Wasteland dev projects not sanctioned for 5 years'
Jammu, Apr 2: The Agriculture Department has not sanctioned any specific project for the development of waste land during last five years.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Revenue, Nasir Aslam Wani while replying to a question by B. R. Kundal in Legislative Council today.
He said that no Waste Land Development Board is functional in the agriculture production department at present as such no recommendations have been made.
He said under J&K Land Improvement Schemes Act-1972 and the rules made there under, there is a provision for constitution of district land improvement committee for any one or more areas to be notified by the government with concerned Deputy Commissioner of the District as the Chairman and Assistant Agriculture Production Officer, District Agriculture Officer, Soil Conservation Officer, Divisional Forest Officer and three non-official members of the area to be nominated by the Deputy Commissioner as the members.
