At IGNOU convocation, VC CU hails open university

Srinagar, Apr 2: IGNOU commemorated it’s 22nd  convocation Saturday, which was held simultaneously at its New Delhi headquarters and across all it’s regional centres. The Kashmir chapter organised the function at Women College M.A Road.
 Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon was the guest of honour while Vice Chancellor of Central University Kashmir, Prof Abdul Wahid Qureshi was the chief guest.  Dr Mirza Nihal A Baigh, Regional Director, IGNOU Kashmir was also present on the occasion.
 The convocation was declared open by Vice Chancellor IGNOU, Prof  V N Rajeshakeran Pillai, from New Delhi which was telecasted live to all Regional Centres via satellite channel GYAN DARSAHN.
 The Divisional Commissioner hailed the efforts of the Centre in promoting education in the state.
 He also congratulated the Dr Baigh for having “produced wonderful results that the centre has achieved.”
 Hailing the efforts of IGNOU for promoting the education not only in India but on International level, the Central University VC said the IGNOU has provided chances to learn various subjects ranging from child care to sophisticated arrow physics courses.
 Earlier Regional Director IGNOU Dr Beigh in his speech said that IGNOU has 36 study Centres in Kashmir Valley.
 Later the Chief Guest distribution certificates among the diploma and degree holder students.
 Meanwhile Gold Medallists Shaila Ali and Syed Shakeel-ul- Rehaman of Srinagar will receive their  medals at New Delhi headquarter of IGNOU.
