Imposition of property tax symbol of feudalism: Nayeem Khan
Srinagar, Apr 2: Chairman of National Front and senior Hurriyat (M) leader Nayeem Khan, on Saturday termed the imposition property tax on people as symbol of “feudalism,” aimed at quelling the ongoing resistance movement.
“The imposition of property tax is economic terrorism. It is only aimed at breaking political will of the people of Jammu and Kashmir who are already suffering on socio-economic and political fronts,” Khan said in a statement.
“The legislation to impose tax on properties is completely unethical and is an anti-people move. It will cripple the already fragile economy of the state,” he said. “Despite our economy being in shambles New Delhi with the help of state government manages to implement anti-Kashmiri laws. “Government of India has now adopted a new strategy to cripple the people of Kashmir economically. The imposition of property tax is a part of it,” he said.
“The imposition of taxes is a new anti-resistance strategy formed by New Delhi and implemented by pro- India politicians of Kashmir. Such tactics have failed in past and will meet the same fate in future as well,” Khan added.
