No employees’ strike on Tuesday: JCC
PROTESTS ON WEDNESDAY
Srinagar, Apr 2: Joint Consultative Committee Jammu and Kashmir has suspended its proposed April 5, pen-down/tool-down strike programme for the time being.
“However, the state employees in the all three regions will hold protest demonstrations on April 6, to press for the fulfilment of their demands,” a JCC spokesman said in a statement.
The decision to this effect was taken at an emergency meeting of the JCC held here today with its senior leader Muhammad Khursheed Alam in chair.
“Owing to his disposition, the EJAC (Q) president and JCC leader could not himself attend the meeting. He was, therefore, represented by EJAC (Q) senior vice-president Fayaz Ahmad Shabnum,” the spokesman said.
The meeting appealed to the employees to assemble at Pratap Park here in large numbers on April 6, Wednesday, at 11 a.m. to hold protest demonstration against government anti-employees’ policy and its dilly-dallying tactics. “A protest rally will be taken out from Pratap Park to Divisional Commissioners’ office here,” said the spokesman.
Speaking on the occasion, the JCC leaders asked the government to shun its confrontationist attitude and fulfill the employees’ demands including release of pay commission arrears, raising of retirement age, five working day week, resolution of Public Sector employees’ and workers’ problems, bringing all engaged employees under SRO and resolution of the problems of local bodies’ employees.
