700 youth want to return from PaK: DGP
KHALID GUL
Islamabad, Apr 29: Director General of Police (DGP), Kuldeep Khoda on Friday said the State Government had received 700 applications from the families of the youth who want to return from the Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK).
“Till now we have received 700 applications from the kith and kin of youth who want to return from PaK and live with their families. We have already cleared some applications while others are under process,” the DGP told reporters on the sidelines of a T-20 cricket tournament organized by the police here in south Kashmir.
Referring to the militancy, the DGP said, “The number of militancy related incidents have gone down and it is on decline, but efforts are being made to reactivate the militancy cells. We are maintaining strict vigil on their activities as the militants keep on changing strategies.”
“Infiltration has come down but efforts are on to push the militants into this side. The forces on the borders are vigilant and are ready to foil any infiltration bid,” he said.
On the recent shootout on city outskirts in which two policemen were killed and one injured, Khoda said, “Such incidents take place occasionally and we are trying to ensure that such incidents are not repeated”.
Asked about the recent killing of a driver on election duty in stone pelting incident in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district Khoda said, “It was a minor stone pelting incident, wherein the driver lost control of his vehicle but we are probing the case.”
