Discrimination this

This refers to the recent selection list of doctors for MD/MS Diploma courses issued by BOPEE whose transparency in the conduct of exams was remarkable. The list consists of non-PSC confirmed and in-service doctors. As usual, the in-service doctors had to route their application through proper channel. Every year candidates getting selected are relieved to the respective medical colleges of Srinagar and Jammu and SKIMS. And after completing the course are relieved back to the health department. This way the candidates were getting proper salary and allowances. But for the first time in the history, the government has issued an order not to give any salary or stipend to the in-service doctors, probably to save money from the state exchequer for the said course of three years. The government is citing that the said PG doctors are doing this course only for their benefit and the state has nothing to gain from their degrees and to save themselves from medico-legal purposes treats the period of post-graduation as study leave. According to rules, study leave can be given only for 12 consecutive months or 2 years in the whole service period. Here, the question arises that are degrees of in-service candidates only for their own benefit, which means that the state does not need any specialists? This is sheer discrimination and a fake argument. The government reconsider its decision and ensure equal treatment to both the categories of doctors.
