Female foeticide perpetuators are murderers: Rana
Jammu: CM’s Political Advisor, Devender Singh Rana on Friday said the decreasing sex ratio in the country was alarming and those who perpetuate female foeticide should be treated as murderers and brought to book.
“Female foeticide is a slur on the present day society and this menace if not checked will have a devastating impact on the sex ratio. We have a great task of changing the mindset of doctors and clients, to create a socio-cultural milieu that is conducive for girl child’s survival and monitor the activities of commercial minded techno-docs thriving on sexist prejudices. Then only we will be able to halt the process of declining sex ratio,” Rana said while addressing a seminar on female foeticide which was organized by Rathore Education and Research Foundation here.
He underscored the need for spreading awareness about curbing the female foeticide and promoting balanced sex ratio.
“It is high time to organize state level seminars by the Government and private agencies to focus on raising the awareness against the foeticide and the issue be dealt through medical ethics and strong campaign,” he added.
