Mir for probe into Imam’s killing
Srinagar: Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (R) senior vice-chairman, Javed Ahmad Mir on Friday demanded impartial probe into the mysterious killing of Hafiz Muhammad Ashraf Lone of Achabal, Sopore.
Mir was addressing a protest rally after Friday prayers at Aabi Guzar here. He threatened serious consequences at public level if the innocent killings were not stopped immediately. “Killing of innocents has now become a routine in Valley. And when people raise their voice against these killings, they are showered bullets tear-smoke shells and lathis to suppress their voice,” he said, adding “On the one hand, leaders of India and Pakistan are exuding hope for headway in talks on Kashmir and also announcing improvement in mutual relations at trade and commerce level but, on the other hand, there is no let up in the killings and arrests of innocents in Kashmir.”
In the perspective of restoration of talks between India and Pakistan, Mir appealed to the Home secretaries of the two countries to take serious note of the killings of innocents. “Talks, killings and arrests cannot go together,” he said, adding “It is imperative for India and Pakistan to take into confidence the pro-freedom leadership as bilateral talks have never yielded any results.”
