Srinagar, Apr 4: Four Kashmiri books including Farooq Wagoori’s Dagh Te Daag were Monday released at Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art Culture and Languages auditorium here.
The book release function coincided with the 63rd death anniversary of famed Kashmiri poet, Abdul Ahad Azad.
Farooq Wagoori, a teacher by profession, has compiled Dagh Te Daag from his 18 years of poetic work.
The 136 page book deals with different areas of the “romanticism, culture and literature of Kashmir.”
Saad-ud-din-Saad, a poet associated with the Academy, in review of the book said it was “superbly written in simple language.” “Various styles of literature with romantic tendencies are reflected in the book,” he said.
The book highlights the contribution of Sheikh-ul-Alam (RA), Hazrat Sharaf-al-Din Bulbul Shah (RA), Shah Hamdan (RA), Dr Sir Muhammad Iqbal (RA), and Ghani Kashmiri towards the “growth and development of Kashmiri culture and literature”.
Saad said: “Each poem is not an exercise in what words can do but is a carefully crafted lyric that sings small parts of the world into shimmering life.”
Wagoori has included some poems by Ranjoor Tilgami, Shahnaz Rashid and Shahid Delnavi in his book.
“The poems in the book are graceful, thoughtful and melodic. They are also twisty, stretching and unexpected,” Saad said.
The other three books released on the occassion were Sunni Saawi Aachur, Kashir Tafhimaat-i-Din, and Yeth Aangnas Manz.
The book release function was attended by scores of reputed poets.
Director Information, Khawaja Farooq RenzuShah who was the chief guest on the occasion congratulated the authors for their literary contribution.
“It is because of the Kashmiri poets and writers, people are becoming serious to learn Kashir language,” he said.
Stressing on old City to be called as Shaar-e-Khaas instead of Down Town, RenzuShah said: “By taking care of such small things we will be able to safeguard the Kashmiri language.”
At the end of the function the participants paid rich tributes to great poets of Kashmir-Abdul Ahad Azad and Manzoor Hashmi, who have contributed a lot to the Kashmiri literature. Journalist Shujaat Bukhari was also present on the occasion.
