Hurriyat (M) rebuffs Ansari’s claim

‘Individual level contact not amalgam’s decision’

Srinagar, Apr 4: After M M Ansari claimed that interlocutors received a representation from Hurriyat Conference (M) the amalgam on Monday said that contact made on individual level by anyone cannot be termed as Hurriyat’s decision.
“Hurriyat Conference is a disciplined and organized party and every decision is taken collectively. Even then, if we assume, that contact was made (with the interlocutors) on individual level by anyone, it cannot be termed as a decision of the Hurriyat. Furthermore, the Hurriyat has presented no recommendations or proposals to the interlocutors regarding the resolution of Kashmir issue,” the amalgam’s executive council members headed by chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said during a meeting today.
The meeting, according to the Hurriyat statement, said that since “parallel” political activities cause harm to “collective health,” Hurriyat members would “conduct themselves within the ambit of Hurriyat constitution and continue to show discipline.”
However, the amalgam refuted the revelations made by Ansrai. “The job of New Delhi’s interlocutors on Kashmir is to formulate recommendations and that they should work within this domain,” the statement added.
