Pay hike unites all members in the Assembly

This refers to the article "Windfall for ministers, legislators; Get 100% Hike In Perks" (GK Dated 28-03-2011). I appreciate Muhammad. Yousuf Tarigami for opposing the hike in salaries of the legislators. Tarigami has rightly said that we should be more concerned with the release of the arrears of the Sixth Pay Commission to the employees of J&K. Generally the legislatures in power and opposition are never unanimous, but when the issue of their salary hike by 100% came up, opposition was found to be unanimous with the in power legislatures. As the article said "Leaders of PDP, BJP, Panthers Party and other senior legislators attended the meeting. For the first time since the beginning of the current budget session, the legislators, both from opposition and treasury benches were unanimous on single issue".
It is painful but a fact that most of the funds released under different schemes for the upliftment of poor reaches back to the pockets of few people in power. Today when a common man in J&K is struggling against the circumstances and limited facilities, instead of strengthening him, our legislators are more focused and concerned about their own salary hike. A common man like me can only say "This is pathetic" but at the same time please don't forget "Yeh jo public hai, sab jaanti hai"
