Attaining power not PDP’s aim: Mehbooba

GK NEWS NETWORK

Jammu, Apr 5: The President of Peoples Democratic Party Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday said that attaining power was not her party’s aim.
“Our goal is to restore the lasting and sustainable peace in this region and to bring in over all change in the system to provide justice to all sections of the society,” Mehbooba said while addressing a function to welcome large number of youth from Gool area of Ramban district who joined PDP recently.
Mehbooba said that joining of such a large number of youth was a clear indication that younger generation of the state wants a change and her party was committed to bring in such change in all spheres of lives be it the governance or the security scenario.
She said that PDP was formed to restore dignity and honour of the people of this state and to minimize miseries of the common masses.
Reiterating resolve of her party to bring in positive change in the state, Mehbooba said that her party had successfully proved its capability to transform promises into reality during the tenure of previous PDP-Congress regime from 2002 to 2008.
Comparing the present regime with the previous PDP-Congress government, Mehbooba Mufti observed that present dispensation headed by Omar Abdullah has been functioning “uncontrolled manner because ministers of this government have been taking policy decisions on their own without any accountability or transparency.”
The PDP chief regretted that the present government had not learned lesson from its mistakes and continues with its policy of stifling voice of people through oppressive means.
While pointing towards decision of the government to organize recruitment rallies in some selective areas, she warned that such policy of recruited youth from some particular areas would prove disastrous for the state as it would fuel already brewing discontent among the people especially the youth.
