CAPD told to distribute ration at enhanced scales

Srinagar, Apr 5: Minister of State for CAPD and Power, Shabir Ahmed Khan has directed the concerned authorities of Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution department to ensure distribution of monthly ration to the consumers as per enhanced scales.
 He also stressed on timely distribution of ration in remote and hilly areas well in time, even as he issued similar direction for maintaining scheduled power supply.
 The Minister issued the direction during his interaction with several deputations of valley, who met him here today in the winter secretariat. The deputationists brought to the notice of the Minister developmental needs and day to day problems of their respective areas, which mostly pertained to CA&PD and power departments.
 The Minister said that sufficient stocks of food grains are available in warehouses, while calling upon concerned authorities to ensure dispatches and supply of food grains at each sale outlet of the State especially in remote and hilly areas to felicitate rationees. He directed for implementing government’s new ration scale of issuing 35 kgs of ration to each ration card holder under APL category and 40kgs of ration under BPL category on monthly basis.
 Shabir said that a comprehensive plan is under way to generate power besides strengthening distribution and transmission system in the State, adding the State would become self- reliant in power sector in near future. He said focused attention is also being given on upgrading power infrastructure in remote and hilly areas both under State and Centre schemes.
 The deputationists of Kupwara led by senior congress leader Mohammad Amin Khan apprised the Minister about the scarcity of ration. He said disruption in electricity supply is also experienced in various villages of the district, and demanded early redressal of these problems.
 Another deputation of Karnah led by Advocate Qazi Mehboob pleaded for availability of Atta at sale outlets of CA&PD Department. They also demanded upgradation of power transmission and distribution system in the area.
 The Minister gave patient hearing to the deputationists. He issued on the spot instructions to concerned authorities for fulfilling the genuine demands of the people of these areas.
