Imposing tax

This refers to the bill passed by the State Assembly with regard to imposition of Tax on the properties of poor people of Jammu and Kashmir. People have already borrowed loan from Banks and other financial institutions for purchase of land and subsequently for construction of houses for their families. People are not in a position to pay the loan they have borrowed and they have to bear the huge financial burden due to sky-rocketing prices in the prevailing circumstances. As such imposition of tax on the properties will add more salt on the wounds of common man, particularly in Kashmir. In the past two decades, people of the Valley have suffered immensely due to the turmoil. How is it possible for them to pay the tax? Government must rethink on the decision and revoke it in public interest.
