Muhammad Shafi Moonis passes away
Srinagar: Noted Islamic scholar and former vice-president of Jama’at-e-Islami Hind, Muhammad Shafi Moonis, 93, passed away on Wednesday due to brain hemorrhage at his residence in New Delhi. Moonis was born in 1918 in village-Kulheri, District-Muzaffar Nagar UP. After completing his education, Moonis worked as a teacher in Ajmeri Gate Higher Secondary School, Delhi, before joining Jama’at on full time basis. He served as General Secretary and President of All India Muslim Majlis-e- Mushawarat. President (Ameer) Jama’at-e-Islami Hind, Maulana Jalal-ud-Din Umari has expressed sorrow over the demise. “A vacuum has been created with Muhammad Shafi’s demise which seems difficult to fill. His services to the Jama’at and the community are countless and invaluable.”
