Jammu, Apr 7: Jammu and Kashmir Government Thursday extended the term of the Cabinet Sub-Committee constituted for examining the recommendations of Working Group on State-Center relationship.
Official sources said that the term of the seven-member committee, headed by Finance Minister, has been extended for a further period of four months.
The committee, which was constituted on October 11, 2010, was to file its report to the Cabinet within three months from the date of its constitution. However, the sub-committee, sources said, has not been able to meet and deliberate over the issue even when its term expired in January this year.
“Now the term has been extended for four months with effect from January 11, 2011 and the committee has been asked to report by mid May,” sources said adding that the committee may meet in next few days to deliberate over the issue.
The committee was constituted by the state Cabinet for examining the recommendations made in the report of Working Group–V, headed by late Justice Sagheer Ahmed on
strengthening relations between the State and the Centre with a view to formulating response/comments of the State Government for further consideration and approval of the Government.
The committee comprised of Finance Minister as its chairman and Minister for Rural Development and Panchayats, Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Minister for Tourism and Culture, Minister for Industries and Commerce, Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture and Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution as members.
